Skills & qualifications:

To be considered for employment, professional educators are preferred to possess the following:

  • Experience with, understanding and commitment to differentiated instruction
  • Exceptional classroom management and instructional strategies
  • Experience with or knowledge of using data to drive instruction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional knowledge of subject matter
  • Desire to be part of a team that works hard and demands flexibility, enthusiasm, and team work
  • Minnesota licensure in area applying
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of the Core Knowledge curriculum
  • Knowledge and experience mapping curriculum
  • Ability to write rigorous assessments that challenge student achievement

To be considered for employment, professional teaching educators are required to have a BA degree.  Paraprofessionals should have their AA degree.

Join AmeriCorps as a Tutor at Cologne Academy!

Make a difference in your community and join our team as a Reading (Grades K-3) or Math (Grades 4-8) Corps Tutor. Cologne Academy is looking for tutors to help students who need extra help with reading.

Tutors meet with scholars one-on-or in small groups to provide extra practice. With training and on-site coaching, we’ll prepare you to help kids succeed.

This is an AmeriCorps member position with Reading or Math Corps. Together, we’re on a mission to help more kids become strong readers because kids who read have the power to succeed!

Perks as A Tutor

  • Paycheck every two weeks
  • Up to an additional $4,500 for college tuition or student loans. (Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.)
  • Free individual health insurance (for tutors serving 35 hours a week)
